I totally overslept this morning and I have a very full day so I'm going to make this short and sweet. Here's my entry into the Papertrey ink March blog hop challenge.<br />

Now I have to admit that this is far from my favorite color combo. Being the good sport that I am, I thought I'd give it a try anyways.It wasn't so bad after all :)<br />
If you want to play along here's a link to the blog hop:<br />

I'm on my way over to see what others have come up with.<br />

We've had summer like weather for the past week. I've gotten sooo much yard work done :).<br />

After I finished blending the copics for my back ground I decided that it was too much for this stamped image so I cut it down and added the Orange Zest paper on the bottom third. I hope you enjoyed this. Once more here's the link if you want to learn this technique and/or play along. <a href="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/">http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/</a><br />

We are having summer like weather here in central NY today so this will be a short post. I need to get outside and get some yard work done:)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik9_a2MzwoawyMJqAK7hMwKps96BVGg_kfeeP8MdDRFtSqYK7zUDepjVyXvwBv0xsR_TrrnxS1vq1u21FMIKwrnuzu2P_eTY3_9oL-Ak4m5WuEoP-wPjDJ9VsGHK2zUtHjkVqszyydlCmw/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEik9_a2MzwoawyMJqAK7hMwKps96BVGg_kfeeP8MdDRFtSqYK7zUDepjVyXvwBv0xsR_TrrnxS1vq1u21FMIKwrnuzu2P_eTY3_9oL-Ak4m5WuEoP-wPjDJ9VsGHK2zUtHjkVqszyydlCmw/s320/002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I'm playing along with the Make it Monday #58 using Papertreyink.com products. Rather than explain the challenge I'm leaving the link so you can see for yourself. <a href="http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/">http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/</a> One point I might add is you don't need to use Copic markers as long as you use an alcohol marker. I use some Prismacolor markers and Copic in my example. With the Prismacolor markers I used the broad tip. I love this summery card. I'm sending it off to my daughter today because she's experiencing the same hot sunny weather we are.<br />
The medallion stamp and paper are from Papertreyink.<br />
Until next time,<br />

The challenge to to use one of your existing frame stamps to make a card using Dawn's frame stretching technique. I knew this was going to be a challenge because I only have one acrylic frame stamp. It turned out to easier than I thought.</strong></span><br />
<br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><strong>I stamped the rectangular frame four times to make one large frame. Then I strategically started filling the center so you wouldn't see where the frames connected. I also decided to stamp patterned paper because I need practice in that area. Here's a close up of the framed area. (After previewing this post I can see that the frame isn't showing up well. You can click on the photo to make it larger. Hopefully that will help.)</strong></span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3xzo7zx-B7vaeSe8346rO5jtWywEooaHKezuGoTpoQAWa5D5kECo-RXSCz4_1qMFaiVyBziEF-GjkiaAu5ClYCPB6t9j6Gn1P2CUve8iw-IjNgzV-JdVwxv-NP7jQYhQ0HIL-ios3OVmf/s1600/DSCN3520.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3xzo7zx-B7vaeSe8346rO5jtWywEooaHKezuGoTpoQAWa5D5kECo-RXSCz4_1qMFaiVyBziEF-GjkiaAu5ClYCPB6t9j6Gn1P2CUve8iw-IjNgzV-JdVwxv-NP7jQYhQ0HIL-ios3OVmf/s320/DSCN3520.JPG" uda="true" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><strong>I used PTI's Aqua mist ink for the frame. I die cut the eyelet oval twice. Once using a PTI coaster and once in the pattern paper. I wanted it raised off the paper a bit and was afraid you might be able to see the extra frame lines if I used pop dots. Now here's the finished card.</strong></span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWRlOAvM9AKb0QgrvZDqn11aE55rp9vcMml7u-cxAQGr11rSk6-usfFKH1UfaviF0uh61qnyIatk05YkVz8ATR09r9x0VrU_ovELmA55Kk1CZwc56cCv6P-XPd1mid8l-itUGJ2POW6YHv/s1600/DSCN3518.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWRlOAvM9AKb0QgrvZDqn11aE55rp9vcMml7u-cxAQGr11rSk6-usfFKH1UfaviF0uh61qnyIatk05YkVz8ATR09r9x0VrU_ovELmA55Kk1CZwc56cCv6P-XPd1mid8l-itUGJ2POW6YHv/s320/DSCN3518.JPG" uda="true" width="245" /></a></div><br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><strong>Note the area between the bottom of the frame and the ribbon. I plan on adding a sentiment at a later time.</strong></span><br />
<span style="color: #660000;"><strong>The ribbon and cardstock are from PTI also. The patterned paper is from a small My Minds Eye Stack called Jack & Jill. I love the red, aqua, orange-red and turquoise colors in this paper. I also used this stack for the PTI blog hop challenge on Saturday. The photos are below if you wish to see more of the patterns.</strong></span><strong><span style="color: #660000;"></span></strong><span style="color: #660000;"><strong>Thanks again for stopping in. </strong></span><br />

I couldn't believe what a mess my blog had become. So I'm back today to clean up the mess and give the old blog a new look. I like it for now. It may change again at a later date.<br />
<br />
So what Have I been up to for the last year you ask? I took up scrap booking. And scrap I did, with more than 30 2-page layouts. My Mom passed in March of last year and I felt it therapeutic to put some memories in a book just for myself.<br />
<br />
What?!? no cards? well of course I didn't give up card making. Here are a few of my cards since I've been gone.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEE4g9zRNSmVgazvAKQl-8CQMf_TT_tyrt9CFjZ0g-bQAM-MLHBT17xEUk5iHJy6h1IdNWwXkG2oL-pTIhDRn0rgT1SUEVJkyQHmeXy4rw_2g3BwbfaHmQOKc_kf5aaDoOX861nZ1PwvnS/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" lda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEE4g9zRNSmVgazvAKQl-8CQMf_TT_tyrt9CFjZ0g-bQAM-MLHBT17xEUk5iHJy6h1IdNWwXkG2oL-pTIhDRn0rgT1SUEVJkyQHmeXy4rw_2g3BwbfaHmQOKc_kf5aaDoOX861nZ1PwvnS/s320/002.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>My son bought a new house last summer. Since he works 60+ hours most weeks during the summer I became his personal assistant and go-between with the Realtors. They are both super ladies and couldn't have been more helpful. I sent each of them this card with a thank you.<br />

It's been ages since I last posted. I bring you today my entries into the Papertreyink February Blog Hop Challenge.<br />
<br />
Today it's all about interactive cards.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge6OR-gGdHwQ8ieNzYc86th2cS3Fw_h-QmtpJtNneg6fUL_mgw_aSL5bRNk-h6I7qZkxGSunEb6tmIbMA8MWCITtQ_craOdkeFqYUJHjrpHcFa5lMG-KqYJ-zzV2cV3_rlowlg-2axqz48/s1600/DSCN3499.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" lda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEge6OR-gGdHwQ8ieNzYc86th2cS3Fw_h-QmtpJtNneg6fUL_mgw_aSL5bRNk-h6I7qZkxGSunEb6tmIbMA8MWCITtQ_craOdkeFqYUJHjrpHcFa5lMG-KqYJ-zzV2cV3_rlowlg-2axqz48/s320/DSCN3499.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I made this card for my son who is living in Hawaii and attending helicopter school. I hope I can remember how to do it.<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I bought a new laptop and decided it needed to be decorated. My sister Pamm turned sixty this week. We went to a girls lunch at a friends restaurant with other family. I had been wanting to try one of these so I thought this would be a good time to do it. Here's a quick pic of the center three pennants I hung up around our table.<br />

I love all the cards, but my fave is the Day 2 card and the step by step to putting it together. <br />
<br />
I'd never heard of Faux tape till I saw your 7 Days of Quilts - what an innovative idea and it would be fun to try. You've inspired me. I'm definitely going to try some quilt cards myself. <br />
Thanks again<br />

As soon as I finish posting this I'll be sending her an email.<br />

Today is day six of my series "seven Days of quilt cards". Today's card is not what I had intended to post. Long story short, I took some new pics and my PC isn't recognizing my camera!?! I have no idea what this is all about and I don't have time to fix it today. So today's card isn't really a quilt but I think it will fit in.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixBVwJ5qfSqmdsxEHBGN0PkZJU-206Q-8dSC_7Jj4Nt41NZbJtBKGxuxHI4IrDb3FG0cacCPyiYuHL_piObu4ueKDRSRurP1PqYAIOFibJY0fNepo4ScO-unEPmrBCEYjUaEDdn7jtKFJa/s1600/Quilted+series+010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" qx="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixBVwJ5qfSqmdsxEHBGN0PkZJU-206Q-8dSC_7Jj4Nt41NZbJtBKGxuxHI4IrDb3FG0cacCPyiYuHL_piObu4ueKDRSRurP1PqYAIOFibJY0fNepo4ScO-unEPmrBCEYjUaEDdn7jtKFJa/s400/Quilted+series+010.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">This is a last minute replacement so I don't have all the details in front of me. The green pine boughs are a Martha Stewart punch. The berries are simply a 1/16 circle punch. The Merry Christmas is a Stampin' Up stamp that I heat embossed using a fine white embossing powder. Around each block I embossed the cross stitching using a small cuttlebug folder. The paper I bought at Joann's. It comes in a 8.5" X 11" sheet so it's perfect for card making.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for my blog candy give-a-way. I'll also be posting cards that didn't make the cut for this series.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Enjoy your Saturday,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Jana</div>Janahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04212357512968777969noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7796101686335906947.post-76753594517922738092010-09-17T15:02:00.001-04:002010-09-17T15:02:00.538-04:00Day 5 of "Seven Days of Quilt Cards"Happy Friday Everyone, Today is day 5 of my series seven days of quilt cards. This card was made using a 3/4" punch. You can see details to make these cards on day 2, just scroll down.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrrJBr5qjM_6kn_HJ1JUSn6tgJnhClpXYIuHdEwCNb1-DC11dtmRitkfsqERd3vXnsDX7yLSxhwK9oB2-Gq73c2ghO7Sv-FN2C4sJQZ0qCPhkmk21U5z-k6-Xl_AVLbWp0hlc2DEBZopgi/s1600/Quilted+series+027.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" qx="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrrJBr5qjM_6kn_HJ1JUSn6tgJnhClpXYIuHdEwCNb1-DC11dtmRitkfsqERd3vXnsDX7yLSxhwK9oB2-Gq73c2ghO7Sv-FN2C4sJQZ0qCPhkmk21U5z-k6-Xl_AVLbWp0hlc2DEBZopgi/s400/Quilted+series+027.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> This is one of my favorite quilt cards to make. (I need to go back and fix a couple of the triangle patches though.) Because I like the simple look of this I decided not to add any stitch marks on this one. After I finished this I went back in with a marker and added some color to the white patterned paper. I felt it need that to pull the apricot color in. I stamped the label with a dotted argyle print (in matching ink) and then stamped happy birthday on top.<br />
<br />
2 More days until Blog Candy Yeah! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGxzKKZ_oH0pG-GQiA4ZrixmEnmk0AMKRTAPdp4TBUqanSGxyNCu5mtjVzRjvYgKGLatHIqkHm3cTjVtAWDZqPaTS9NCy6HT-Jsqlnu6YLmTT5VxUJlWeo06nmwF-JDTJVC6Aw5UKeUXDs/s1600/101_1473.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" qx="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGxzKKZ_oH0pG-GQiA4ZrixmEnmk0AMKRTAPdp4TBUqanSGxyNCu5mtjVzRjvYgKGLatHIqkHm3cTjVtAWDZqPaTS9NCy6HT-Jsqlnu6YLmTT5VxUJlWeo06nmwF-JDTJVC6Aw5UKeUXDs/s320/101_1473.jpg" /></a></div>That's right I'll be giving this away on day 7. What is it you ask? Why this is faux stitching tape. So very cool and easy to use. Anne of Paper Patch Crafts has a great tutorial showing you how easy this is to use. <a href="http://paperpatchcrafts1.blogspot.com/2010/06/faux-stitching-tape-tutorial.html">http://paperpatchcrafts1.blogspot.com/2010/06/faux-stitching-tape-tutorial.html</a><br />
<br />
See you tomorrow with day 6 of the quilt series, until then happy crafting.<br />

This card is an easel card that uses only two colors, Whisper White and Apricot Appeal, both from Stampin Up. I often use Stampin Up designer paper for my quilts. I find that the small patterns lend themselves to a quilt look.The blocks are cut using a 3/4" punch.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3Rk0r8jMU1QpdEvjx5HGbE3_wjZ53Rj7at88ppuEo7YoDdZT1C0nU8t-MzCVQpL71gb9-vVyWZ3KAjsYE9vQViWCHVLvGegcqT4xsTegJu7Z_JdZQ4YoCZPBQBp1IndvBz7dqBq9AI-ux/s1600/Quilted+series+023.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" qx="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3Rk0r8jMU1QpdEvjx5HGbE3_wjZ53Rj7at88ppuEo7YoDdZT1C0nU8t-MzCVQpL71gb9-vVyWZ3KAjsYE9vQViWCHVLvGegcqT4xsTegJu7Z_JdZQ4YoCZPBQBp1IndvBz7dqBq9AI-ux/s400/Quilted+series+023.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">I used a white Gelly Roll pen to add some stitching around the patches. I'm going to begin by showing you how I put these together, <br />
<br />
You can click on the pictures to make them bigger.<br />
I start with a piece of graph paper. Because for this card I was using 3/4" patches and 5 squares to a row (25 patches) I need to draw a 15 X15 square block. (3/4" patch =9 graph squares or one patch,)<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyx8J5Eye4jtX2x1JjIWOG2sgkqk3tnLsVizSbah0rGEBAc_aDsXDGzAa5qDB3gfuuEiAOHZGomEwd7Dhj5ehvoBLJNhp8TazBwP8M1qWWun3ngISmjZJOwdAf14fs71NOEnZMoWnRAH37/s1600/day+2a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyx8J5Eye4jtX2x1JjIWOG2sgkqk3tnLsVizSbah0rGEBAc_aDsXDGzAa5qDB3gfuuEiAOHZGomEwd7Dhj5ehvoBLJNhp8TazBwP8M1qWWun3ngISmjZJOwdAf14fs71NOEnZMoWnRAH37/s200/day+2a.jpg" width="200" /></a><br />
I've already decided on my color choices so I've punched out a few patches and started to lay out a pattern.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqYkN7jKbvCC3kthvoCrWiMK6CPP7iHxikFmoUsVzPe1UoGTEKNQkuL7xmDxXBE89OOh2wXyyb-ne50dPEdDQaAdevU2cPSwHOGSWkDWscIMahp8d_LeEI2FFXRbZ3cpuiLDuT3zGSsr8T/s1600/day+2b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqYkN7jKbvCC3kthvoCrWiMK6CPP7iHxikFmoUsVzPe1UoGTEKNQkuL7xmDxXBE89OOh2wXyyb-ne50dPEdDQaAdevU2cPSwHOGSWkDWscIMahp8d_LeEI2FFXRbZ3cpuiLDuT3zGSsr8T/s200/day+2b.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>Note that some of these squares I've cut in half diagonally. I do that using a small pair of sharp paper snips.<br />
.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJcxPKkKLbqfvwIdg36XTLN3JfwJfWMBPlIpzwZdBZaaNEJPIZ1QdYg_MsKMS2bR88seTXIA5j3arfrEd41_lTBo1G4wHrJQoq9F1-JW8jtaaIizxaN3bsL3DHC8Y9SRBzixrbfLPzo70s/s1600/day+2c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJcxPKkKLbqfvwIdg36XTLN3JfwJfWMBPlIpzwZdBZaaNEJPIZ1QdYg_MsKMS2bR88seTXIA5j3arfrEd41_lTBo1G4wHrJQoq9F1-JW8jtaaIizxaN3bsL3DHC8Y9SRBzixrbfLPzo70s/s200/day+2c.jpg" width="200" /></a>Here's a pic of my finished layout. Now the fun begins.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2nZ6K9I5AyZoJ4ZSG56bNSyDwT81xJ0QuIvhRA_dodYUzlrCRaOVuv6r1LS4tbpAT-d40GWMyBwgXwI9eQcvdvnp1Owx1OrpJlxfNd5jaQu7dzf3WLYWP5BfBPPFAaNJtN99rfrMWbQP7/s1600/day2d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2nZ6K9I5AyZoJ4ZSG56bNSyDwT81xJ0QuIvhRA_dodYUzlrCRaOVuv6r1LS4tbpAT-d40GWMyBwgXwI9eQcvdvnp1Owx1OrpJlxfNd5jaQu7dzf3WLYWP5BfBPPFAaNJtN99rfrMWbQP7/s200/day2d.jpg" width="200" /></a>Once I had a layout of the quilt block I drew a small cheat sheet (one graph square equals one patch) Now it's time to start gluing down the patches.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">The important part here is staying within the square you've drawn on your graph paper. Each of the punched patches will take up 9 of the graph paper squares (3 across by 3 down) I like to work from left to right laying one patch at a time. It's easier to put the glue on the graph paper rather than on the patches. I lightly fill in the first of the 9 graph squares and lay the first patch so that it fits exactly in the corner. It's more important that your patches match up to the graph lines rather than to the next piece. This keeps your block square. </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIrxsftaQRI_EbM3fD7c_u4wB9vDT2Av3-c9SvBvBnGf8kNSiybWpU5cQyKyBVSMhQJAiUGgFuBGaA4otVIYPFUTh1sNoXpujRyRg18SAKGpcX8ao6Gk5x4n75JNrjaUGYja3tGOE0Hedq/s1600/day+2e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIrxsftaQRI_EbM3fD7c_u4wB9vDT2Av3-c9SvBvBnGf8kNSiybWpU5cQyKyBVSMhQJAiUGgFuBGaA4otVIYPFUTh1sNoXpujRyRg18SAKGpcX8ao6Gk5x4n75JNrjaUGYja3tGOE0Hedq/s200/day+2e.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">After all your patched have been glued down allow it to dry. Then using a paper cutter trim off the graph paper and just a sliver of the block all at once to make it even. Your block should measure between 3 X 3" to 2 7/8 X 2 7/8" without any graph paper showing like in the pic above. I mounted this on a piece of matching cardstock measuring (1st layer plum) 4 1/8" X 4 1/8" and (2nd layer green) 4" X4".</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is the finished card.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6FgESUaWLMM9ubPhU4-wooCO5xUaBAtPvV2aVIlsZ1mq_yFVjwNBq19giEhLk_uHFGH6waDfEKeo0PPJDwPz4Fhig5zONLEqeOOap3znrBPDMyyE_GW_8oh-C1zzdr_RGZWS2S-jCQ-KG/s1600/day+2f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6FgESUaWLMM9ubPhU4-wooCO5xUaBAtPvV2aVIlsZ1mq_yFVjwNBq19giEhLk_uHFGH6waDfEKeo0PPJDwPz4Fhig5zONLEqeOOap3znrBPDMyyE_GW_8oh-C1zzdr_RGZWS2S-jCQ-KG/s320/day+2f.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">Clear as mud right? I picked one of the harder cards to show you the instructions. If you want to try this but it seems overwhelming you can make a 9 patch square with a 1" square punched patch.. You can copy the center of this card for that, just remember that a 1" patch takes up 12 graph squares.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">Here's a link to a good starter block <a href="http://www.quilterscache.com/B/BabyBudBlock.html">http://www.quilterscache.com/B/BabyBudBlock.html</a> </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">They have tons of free patterns here <a href="http://www.quilterscache.com/QuiltBlocksGalore.html">http://www.quilterscache.com/QuiltBlocksGalore.html</a> </div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Two of my favorite things to create are cards and quilts. So this seems like a natural project for me. If that isn't enough for you, lol, I'll be having a small give-a-way at the end of this series. Here's a hint, it's small in size, new to me and very cool. If you like stitching on cards, you'll love it.<br />
<br />
This first card I created in honor of the Forth of July, but could be used for Patriot's Day too.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju0Z18cbG0xVx8UK7qNwaERgxpf_tOWp4NMu7InmmUUmxf0Yu4Q0e9opwdTElG95aNj6eDonE41rUdaS7lwk2BjxGjpn3UkGn9f6zX0FZEJJRa3fh42Oqgqv-925YkeIBeBsHjZ28Ws1SI/s1600/Quilted+series+012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju0Z18cbG0xVx8UK7qNwaERgxpf_tOWp4NMu7InmmUUmxf0Yu4Q0e9opwdTElG95aNj6eDonE41rUdaS7lwk2BjxGjpn3UkGn9f6zX0FZEJJRa3fh42Oqgqv-925YkeIBeBsHjZ28Ws1SI/s400/Quilted+series+012.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">It's a Z shaped card cut at 4.25" X 11". I scored it from the left at 2.75" and 5.5". It finished into an A2 card. The solid blue and red pieces were cut at 4.25" X 2.50". I then added faux stitching around the boarder. The quilt finished at 3" X 3" and then mounted on a piece of red cardstock that measures 3.25" X 3.25"</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">Here's a photo of the card open</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Tomorrow I'll be posting the details on how I piece these cards. If you want to play along you'll need:<br />
A 3/4" square punch<br />
Graph paper, 4 squares to an inch.<br />

I picked up this step stool a few weeks ago for my grand niece (age 3 ). I was getting ready to drop it off when I thought that I should decorate it with some vinyl. Here's the final result.<br />

Last winter my sister and I went to a showing of antique kimonos in Rochester, NY. We were in awe if the details and workmanship. With that in mind I made her this card.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLH4XKlf-BBv2XT3qisdkrQPrLcfwd_8BXo6YPSRphh9Z8Xvou0YzMUB_LmgEheQXdvEVOihuPN5B8Q_s1ZOcYmdgtzxvPFTLEvNYRMC70vCOecQKoVVhQT3vuQyjoJTB42hr_Nt8V3qpP/s1600/Jana's+Cards+241.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLH4XKlf-BBv2XT3qisdkrQPrLcfwd_8BXo6YPSRphh9Z8Xvou0YzMUB_LmgEheQXdvEVOihuPN5B8Q_s1ZOcYmdgtzxvPFTLEvNYRMC70vCOecQKoVVhQT3vuQyjoJTB42hr_Nt8V3qpP/s400/Jana's+Cards+241.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>Using the Pagoda cartridge I cut the Kimono on page 72 at four inches.<br />
The A2 card base is Stampin'Up Ballet Blue Cardstock<br />
1st layer was cut at 5.25 X 4"<br />
2nd layer, SU Brilliant Blue, was cut at 5 X 3.75"<br />
Kimono base, vanilla cs, was spritzed with iridescent gold Glimmer Mist.<br />
After I layered the Asian print on top I outlined it and the cut floweres with a Gelly Roll clear star pen.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNC-FiQ2hzJW7nGM8kv9U1PNc-zKSzwq9G1fGX7ni_u5_qEanMClXvHfXRjaV7wA7fO1LuVHTLgrpVQgzEn0bkwvazUZJcf3hod9104daYBaYtYBCo8sh1ckW32UtUYRGRVfzIG94JXFDn/s1600/Jana's+Cards+245.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNC-FiQ2hzJW7nGM8kv9U1PNc-zKSzwq9G1fGX7ni_u5_qEanMClXvHfXRjaV7wA7fO1LuVHTLgrpVQgzEn0bkwvazUZJcf3hod9104daYBaYtYBCo8sh1ckW32UtUYRGRVfzIG94JXFDn/s320/Jana's+Cards+245.jpg" /></a></div>I finished the inside with the base of the Kimono. I inked the edges and stamped the sentiment with SU Ballet Blue.<br />

Tomorrow My 40 year old brother-in law finally ties the knot. Today's card was made using the Cricut cartridge Pagoda. I want to send a simple thank you card to my friend who brought me along this week on a fun three day trip.<br />
I used all stamping Up cardstock and inks. The Card is Crumb Cake, the tree is Early Espresso and the leaves are Garden Green. I cut the images at four Inches, inked the edges and ran them through the cuddle bug using the Swiss Dot and Worn Wood (?) folders.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMlODlnUY4iudO8Ctjkvj5vWxw7_akqyV2WrDJdIbCoVnzSKiihQ-OuHRUNK5yGd7cG0wjeB_gsKdnJWQRfRKET5Jzz8sHLqr9thV08rDysooNStcdAGMGe0afwUteQx54L7Pa1O-4W_Oq/s1600/Bonsai+Tree.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMlODlnUY4iudO8Ctjkvj5vWxw7_akqyV2WrDJdIbCoVnzSKiihQ-OuHRUNK5yGd7cG0wjeB_gsKdnJWQRfRKET5Jzz8sHLqr9thV08rDysooNStcdAGMGe0afwUteQx54L7Pa1O-4W_Oq/s400/Bonsai+Tree.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>I finished the inside using the Kanji cuts on this cartridge cut at 3.50". The Kanji cut is the symbol for Journey. <br />
<br />

You can start the hop here on Saturday morning. I'll be giving away some blog candy and you'll find more candy along the hop. So please join us this weekend, we'd love for you to see what this cartridge is all about.<br />

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Today I noticed I was out of <em>simple</em> Thank You cards. I always like to keep a selection of <em>simple</em> cards on hand. This is what I made, no bling, no fancy cuts, no hardware, just a simple double ribbon. The image is a rub-on from a retired Stampin Up set. This is only the second time I've used a rub-on. I was always afraid of them, so I'm surprised how easy it is.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-7vdJMEJ8BHWEJg2mGFdoipGagUNq3RSV2PzJOWj_66xCwHwaUihpJ_uj7PGc09QpoY04sygsSvsIGFfteAauhZzNH1Nb3BlJ2d7ufTj6ea4P59x3oSO59qDilFefhpI6K7z4XNiRczZf/s1600/thank+you+8+26+10+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-7vdJMEJ8BHWEJg2mGFdoipGagUNq3RSV2PzJOWj_66xCwHwaUihpJ_uj7PGc09QpoY04sygsSvsIGFfteAauhZzNH1Nb3BlJ2d7ufTj6ea4P59x3oSO59qDilFefhpI6K7z4XNiRczZf/s400/thank+you+8+26+10+002.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">Because the card is dark brown I finished the inside.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkqFteF8d7dJuS28KbsaQHOjrcOoKkMo8vVJtizHXikqsbJ3OdJUhRrZzMOxYFybtd74jwSGYP6DvTDtMPrWBpj6wCm_YB0oYhqKHYPbrA5pAkbWVHFrk-CNdx5avqBtjS017zN_6Gp_y1/s1600/thank+you+8+26+10+009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkqFteF8d7dJuS28KbsaQHOjrcOoKkMo8vVJtizHXikqsbJ3OdJUhRrZzMOxYFybtd74jwSGYP6DvTDtMPrWBpj6wCm_YB0oYhqKHYPbrA5pAkbWVHFrk-CNdx5avqBtjS017zN_6Gp_y1/s320/thank+you+8+26+10+009.jpg" /></a>Another Owl?!? lol, I couldn't resist.
